Download/Print Résumé Request Talent

As a kid, I always wondered how film worked. It started with cartoons. I wondered, "How do they make it look so real?!" (Until, of course, I discovered they were animations and not real, live people portraying Dora and Boots on the TV). It wasn't my own curiosity that drove me just yet, but rather it was my mom who helped guide me to the start. When she heard on the radio that scouts were coming locally to discover new talent, she signed up me and my sister immediately. When I was told to read off my lines, I was so excited that I couldn't stop smiling. I could also see my mom already squealing and cheering for me nearby, which made me even more giddy. It felt funny having my tiny face on the huge projector screen in the middle of the auditorium. Although my sister and I never went through with acting after that day, that's when my curiosity began to arise. By the end of my middle school years, I began asking myself questions to better understand. How do actors learn to memorize their lines? How do they know exactly what to do with the roles they're auditioning for? How do they know how to portray a character by solely reading a script? By high school, I joined sports and tried to let these questions and wonders dissolve in the back of my mind due to self doubt. However, I allowed it to get the best of me. I quit sports and joined theater to finally start working on my abilities and think realistically. "You're just getting started. Don't be so hard on yourself". At a point, I found myself constantly building confidence and working outside my comfort zone. I then decided to do background work to get the feel and understanding of being on a professional set. I was able to observe and take mental notes while being there. I watched the crew get equipment set in place as the actors would goof around in between takes and the background actors were around each other so much that they developed friendships and got to know one another. It's this amazing idea of having a blast and creating a family all while getting a job done. It was such a surreal feeling. I had gotten intrigued with the thought of feeling the deeper connection of many different characters. To really understand people from different points of view. To really comprehend what it means to be human and be brought closer to the world as a whole. To connect with others who were strangers before but become family by the end of the week. Now with better understanding, I am creating opportunities and attacking the days as they come to always better myself and my abilities. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Brianna Bronger
